Dublin is many cities at once, its many identities layered on top of each other, all drawn onto the same map; a tech hub, a UNESCO city of literature, a cultural powerhouse, a thousand-year-old capital of a state a hundred years young. A contract is currently on site for the demolition of two of the existing flat blocks, known as the Granby blocks, on the East side of Dominick Street Lower.
This talk will look at the architectural history of Inchicore Library with some thoughts on the Art Deco style as interpreted more generally in building design. A talk by Susan Roundtree, Senior architect with Dublin City Council. (more…)
