Happy Christmas to all from City Architects and best wishes for 2015. This has been a busy year and we have tried to keep you updated throughout 2014 on this blog. This has included posts on urban design proposals, such as latest with the Grafton Street Quarter, updates on the latest work in ongoing projects such as Kevin Street Library, pieces of research on topics like the earliest coffee houses in the city, alongside the housing projects that City Architects work on.

The deadline for the HOME exhibition in the Science Gallery has been extended to the 16th of January. The gallery is accepting open call proposals until 12:00 on that date. (more…)
17.12.2014City Architect, Ali Grehan at Pc-house Awards, Shanghai and Defuse Dublin
Alongside Hidden Rooms, November also saw two presentations from City Architect Ali Grehan on design in the city. The first took place in Shanghai at the Pc-House Modern Design Awards, where she presented an outline of house typologies in Dublin, from the earliest ‘Dutch Billies’ right through to contemporary schemes such as Thornton Heights and Dublin House. The second presentation took place closer to home, as part of Defuse Dublin 2014, and dealt with the ‘Architectural Criteria’ outlined in the city’s development plan.

The Science Gallery is now accepting open call proposals for next year’s HOME exhibition. Running from May to July 2015, HOME will be curated by Dublin City Architect Ali Grehan and will explore all manner of themes relating to where, and how, we live. Note: The deadline for submissions has been extended to the 16th of January

Hidden Rooms on the 25th and 26th November 2014 was a terrific success and a big thanks to everyone who participated. It was clear from energy levels at Tuesday’s post workshop gathering in Powerscourt and the Wednesday public Plenary in City Hall that every group had enjoyed an intense and productive day. (more…)
